Family Advocacy Center Hosts their 3rd Annual 'Care-a-Cadabra' Magic Show

care-acadabraMADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/4/13) – The Hopkins County Family Advocacy Center will be hosting their third annual “Care-a-Cadabra” Magic Show Saturday April 20th at the Byrnes Auditorium located on 750 Laffoon Street in the Hatley Building on the Madisonville Health Campus. This event will be taking place from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
 
Mandy Hargis, the Executive Director of the Family Advocacy Center stated, “We have one huge fundraiser a year and the Care-a-Cadabra is our main event, the Byrnes Auditorium is able to hold 425 people and we look forward to filling it up.” There will be performances by Tom Vorjohan, Don Baggett, Zack Watson and Brandon Baggett.  The tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 a child (11 years and younger). The doors will be opening at 1:30pm but the main show will start at 2:00pm. There will be three separate acts and a hilarious MC will entertain, entice and excite every member of your family.
 
There will be concessions before the show and during the intermission. These funds will be going to the child abuse prevention and intervention efforts in Hopkins County. “The proceeds raised at this event will be going straight back to education and intervention on child abuse here in Hopkins County. It will provide for more programs to be offered at places like Hopkins County Jail and Elizabeth’s House. It will provide for prevention programs to be offered during the summer at places like Madisonville Housing Authority, school summer camps and etc. And it will also be used to recruit and train more volunteers to represent victims of abuse,” Hargis also stated.  Hargis goes on to express,” This month is mostly focused on getting the awareness of child abuse and neglect out there. So many people don’t realize that it is in every neighborhood, whether you are from the south side or the north side, it’s everywhere.
 
This past year, there were 552 children abused, which makes up 5% of our children’s population. 1 out 4 sexual abuse cases is ever reported. It’s a lot of kids who need someone to give them a voice and say enough is enough.”
