breaking news body foundPADUCAH, Ky. (4/24/13) – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department has reported that a body has been found in the Paducah area.

According to Sheriff’s Office Spokesman, Mike Turnbow, at approximately 2:00 AM this morning, employees of Ingram Barge spotted a body floating in the water near Owens Island. The Paducah Fire Department launched their boat and recovered the body.

Deputy Coroner Ben Bradford responded to the scene and directed the body be removed to the morgue at Lourdes Hospital for a preliminary examination. The body was then transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Madisonville for an autopsy. Results of that are pending.

The body is described as that of a white female wearing blue jeans and Nike sneakers. It appears the body has been in the water between two and four weeks. Deputy Coroner Bradford and Sheriff’s Department detectives have been reviewing missing person’s reports and hope to have a positive ID later this afternoon.
