ribs rigsCENTRAL CITY, Ky. (5/17/13) – The 2nd Annual Central City Rods N Ribs BBQ Festival is set for June 1st. Last year's event was a huge success and Carmel Rich, Central City Director of Tourism, says this year they are adding more attractions to entice even more newcomers to the downtown festivities.

"We're very excited about the event. It actually is the third year for the festival, but we decided to change the name last year to "Rods N Ribs". It is a barbecue competition with four categories...chicken, pork, ribs, and briskets. The grand champion will receive $300.00,” Rich said. "We're also really looking forward to this year's event because we've added an antique tractor show, along with our car show. We hope this will bring additional people to the downtown area that may not have been here in the past. We'll also have a 5K Run and a half Marathon, sponsored by the Central City Convention Center."

"Our big concert for the evening, sponsored by First Security Bank, will feature a Beatles tribute band from Cincinnati called "The Sweet Beats". It’s really going to an awesome show, complete with costume changes, tracing the history of the Beatles. The Sweet Beats are all fantastic musicians, so we're really looking forward to their concert bringing in a younger audience. We've never had a Beatle Tribute show in Central City that I know of, so we are very excited to bring them here." Rich noted.

“Of course the food is always fantastic, so we hope everyone will make plans to come down and take part in the Rods N Ribs Barbecue Festival." Rich added.

Also, on the way in downtown Central City is the annual Gospelfest and The Everly Brothers Rock N Roll Cruise In and Car Show, all planned for Labor Day Weekend,
