OWENSBORO, Ky. (5/30/13) – At approximately 3:30 a.m. today, the Owensboro Police Department responded to a suspicious person call at Unilever, located at 1901 Ragu Drive.
The security guard advised officers that a male subject had allegedly attempted to gain access to the property by stating that he was a reserve Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputy. The subject’s vehicle had flashing red and blue lights on display, along with a Department of Homeland Security sticker on the windshield. He was not given access, and left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle, a 1997 Ford Mustang, traveling west on the bypass near Frederica Street. Owensboro Police Department patrol units arrived and determined that this vehicle was involved in the incident. After an investigation, David Basham, 45, Owensboro, was arrested and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. He was charged with impersonating a peace officer.
