oboro abellOWENSBORO, Ky. (6/25/13) – A long-time member of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce Ambassador program said she has stayed with it because she believes in its mission of helping to show continued appreciation for local businesses.

Belinda Abell, co-owner of Impact Marketing Consultants for the past nine years, said her nearly 25 years in the marketing field have offered her the opportunity to promote other entrepreneurs within the community.
“I’ve always been very business minded,” she said. “I believe we should celebrate business. It needs to be celebrated.”
The marketing firm isn’t Abell’s only business venture. She also operates an online website, gosoldbyowner.com, for people who are selling their house without the assistance of a realtor, and is currently developing a third business for people who want to become better public speakers. The business, “Effectively Speaking,” is expected to launch within the next few weeks.
Abell said she is hoping to partner with area college campuses in order to offer student services. “Creating an element for beauty pageant contests” is another goal of the upcoming business venture as well, she added.
Abell said she considers the diversity the ambassador program offers in terms of the various businesses it attracts to be one of its strengths as a community program.
“One of the nice things about the ambassador program is… you’ve got a whole myriad of people you can (ask advice from),” she said.
Abell has been a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador for 23 years, though not consecutively. She said she took a one-year leave of absence from the organization during her tenure.
