OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/12/13) -- The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office may not have actually seen the black bear that is supposedly loose in South Daviess County, but they have had enough phone calls to confirm that it is in fact true.
“No one has seen it up close, but it is indeed a bear,” said the Sherriff’s office on Friday.
The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department reportedly told police to cease looking for the wild animal that has been loose since 11 a.m. Friday. Fish and Wildlife has confirmed that the animal isn’t vicious, but doesn’t want police to pursue the bear at this time.
Instead, Fish and Wildlife officials are currently on pursuit to trap and relocate the black bear back into the wild. If you see the animal, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife urges you not to disturb it but to call 800-858-1549 with any information instead.
