surfky oboroOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/15/13) – About 1,300 OMU customers in Owensboro were temporarily without power on Sunday. An area ranging from Parrish Avenue to North Frederica and the surrounding neighborhoods lost power around 12:23 p.m.

Central dispatchers and Owensboro Police Department confirmed that a fallen tree had taken down several power lines in the area at the intersection of Robin Road and Parrish Avenue.

"This happens a lot," said Locust Street resident George Cox. "It's never out long though, because we are right here by the phone company. They always want to get power back on there as quick as possible. Back in the 2009 ice storm, this area was only without power for 28 hours, while others were without power for up to thirty days."

Sonya Dixon, with OMU, told SurfKY that at 1:14 p.m. Sunday, 1100 area customers were restored, and by 2:24, the remaining 200 customers were restored.
