TWO to Hold Auditions for Latest Show

theater work oboroOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/16/13) – The Theater Workshop of Owensboro will be holding auditions for its latest show Little Shop of Horrors on Sunday, July 21 and Monday, July 22, according to TWO Programming Manager Beth Parthum.

Auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. each night. Those auditioning must be ages 18 and above, and should have a musical theatre piece to be sung acappella before the director and TWO staff. The piece can be from the show itself, but isn’t required to be.

Little Shop of Horrors will be directed by local actor and TWO veteran David Roberson, who most recently was seen in TWO’s Man of La Mancha. Roberson also serves as worship leader at Third Baptist Church in Owensboro.

Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman. The musical was originally performed in a 1982 off-Broadway production, followed by a Broadway production of the show. In 1986, it was made into a film starring Rick Morranis, Ellen Green, and Steve Martin.
