agt rose2 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/27/13) - Although Kentucky native Jimmy Rose fell short of the grand prize last week on America's Got Talent, he has since been invited to tour the nation with the production during the next several months.

Rose placed third out of the remaining six acts who battled for the Season 8 title. Rose told SurfKY News he "never intended to go that far" and "sees this experience as a win."

"There is not a thing I would have done differently on the show," Rose said. "I wish my mom could have been with me in New York, but it is a blessing she was there for my first audition."

After the show concluded and before tour preparations began, Rose flew back home to rural Pineville. The community welcomed him back with a "coming home" celebration. In appreciation of their support, Rose held a free concert where hundreds showed up and listened to Jimmy and his brother, Chris, played songs.

"My hometown is proud and they are living this journey through me," Rose said. "I wanted to pay my dues so I sang, signed autographs and took pictures for more than four hours."

Rose told SurfKY News yesterday that he is currently in York, Penn., preparing for the first show. He said seven acts will be touring, and he is 'thrilled' to be one of them.

"I am most looking forward to seeing how all of this works as a profession," Rose said. "I am also looking forward to seeing my fans and interacting with them."

Rose will be singing two songs while on tour: one up-beat cover and one of his originals. He will also be performing a duet with another act on tour, though they have not selected a song.

After the tour is over, Rose said he will continue to pursue a career in the music industry.

"Hopefully, a label will pick me up and I will hit the road again, but that's not something I can predict," Rose said. "Somehow, I will perform music for the rest of my life."
