One Dead in Single Vehicle Crash

fatalcrash copyOHIO COUNTY, Ky. (9/28/13) – Ohio County Deputies, Ohio County EMS, Fordsville Fire Department, and Hartford Fire Department responded to a fatal car crash just after 8 a.m. this morning "in or near the 10000 block" of Ky. Hwy. 69 North. Authorities said they received a report from "a passing motorist... that the vehicle had ran off the roadway... struck a tree and was on fire."

When emergency personnel arrived, the vehicle's engine compartment and the driver's compartment were on fire. The fire units extinguished the fire and at that time a body was found trapped in the driver's seat. Coroner Larry Bevil was notified and responded to the scene as well. He pronounced the victim dead at approximately 8:49 a.m., authorities said.

Authorities haven't positively identified the victim. The body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville for an autopsy and positive identification. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
