Free Access Options for City TV - Channel 12

city of hopkinsville 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (10/28/13) – Today Mayor Dan Kemp reminded Hopkinsville residents that all City TV – Channel 12 content, including City Council meetings, is available free online at www.hoptown.org/tv. Both Live Streaming Video and Video on Demand can be accessed from the city’s website by computer, laptop, or mobile device (e.g., iPad, cell phone, or tablet).

The announcement comes on the heels of recent moves by Time Warner Cable to reclaim bandwidth associated with former analog channels HCC-10, City TV-12, TWC-16, WPGD-20, C-SPAN 98, and C-SPAN2 99. Those channels are now only available in digital format, meaning customers must obtain a Time Warner Cable-supplied digital set top box unless they have a digital-ready television.

For customers who do not have digital equipment, Time Warner has offered to supply one digital box and remote control per household at no cost through 2014. Additional digital boxes are available at $8.50 per month.

Beginning January 1, 2015, the first digital box will cost $1.50 per month. All subsequent boxes will charged at market rate.

Changes in viewing options for City TV – Channel 12 only affect Time Warner customers. For AT&T U-Verse customers, City TV can be still accessed through Channel 99. No additional equipment is needed.

For more information about City TV live streaming and video on demand, please call (270) 890-0212.

To speak with a Time Warner representative, call (270) 881-9018.
