OPD Announces Graduates of Citizen Academy

oboro police academy 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (11/8/13) - The Owensboro Police Department is proud to announce the recent graduation of its 20th Citizen’s Academy Class.

The 20th Citizen’s Academy began on August 22nd and continued for 12 weeks with the class being held one night each week. On Thursday, the Owensboro Police Department held the final session of the Citizen’s Academy and a graduation ceremony was provided.

In order to be eligible for a graduation certificate for this course, the participant must have completed a minimum of 70 percent of the course. Owensboro Police Chief Art Ealum presented 35 participants with a graduation certificate.

The Owensboro Police Department was very pleased with this year’s turnout for the Citizen’s Academy because of the relationship it builds between the department and our community members we serve.

We would also like to thank the Citizen’s Academy Alumni group for all their help and support. The alumni are a true asset with ensuring all class needs are met on a weekly basis. Comprised of past Citizen’s Academy graduates, the alumni members volunteered their time for each of the 12 weeks and we are truly grateful for the assistance.
