OWENSBORO, Ky. (2/5/14) - Sleet and snow began falling at around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night and so did tree limbs, bringing about hundreds of power outages in Daviess County.
The Kenergy Corporation reported 67 outages at around 7:30 p.m. and by 8 p.m. there were over 100 in Daviess County.
Every hour added 100 more outages and the outages grew overnight.
Rain, ice, and tree limbs falling on power lines had crews working through freezing temperatures well into the wee hours of the morning.
By 5:30 a.m. Kenergy reported that over 1,418 customers were without power in western Kentucky, with 424 out in Daviess County alone.
By mid morning Wednesday, Daviess County had 435 outages and Kenergy says they are working to restore the power.
“We are working diligently to restore power to all members,” said Kenergy Corp via Twitter. “If no new outages appear, we hope to have everyone on by late this evening.”SurfKY will continue to give the latest updates on the power outages in western Kentucky.
