garycarver statefarmCentral City State Farm Agent Gary Carver.CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (3/6/14) — Gary Carver, owner and operator of Gary Carver's State Farm Insurance in Central City, stays busy with a thriving insurance and investment business at 1211 West Everly Brothers Boulevard.

Carver told SurfKY News that he enjoys working in a business that helps people when they need it the most.

"I enjoy helping other people. And yes, I do stay busy," Carver said."People have accidents and fires seven days a week. When people do have an accident, they want to know what to do. That is exactly what I am here for. We also have the banking side here, to help people plan for their future."

When he's not busy with his insurance business, Carver loves to work out. It is something he grew to love through his many years on the basketball court.

"I played basketball in high school in Todd County," Carver said. "Then I got a scholarship to play with Coach Clem Haskins at Western Kentucky University."

Carver went on to be drafted to play for the Indiana Pacers and spent time overseas in the Austrian Basketball League.

"I was always a team player," Carver said. "That is the most important thing in any competition. After so many years in sports, I still think staying healthy is very much a part of my life. I try to hit the gym and work out every morning around 4:30."

Carver is married to Tracy Tucker Carver, who has taught at Muhlenberg North Middle School for 27 years.

"We have three boys, two at WKU now," Carver said. "Our oldest son is in a band named Headed South. We love to go listen to them. Our youngest son is in 8th grade and plays baseball and basketball. We stay pretty busy with their activities."
