Two Daviess County Locations Included in Farm Bureau Farm Market Program

KY certified Farm market roOWENSBORO, Ky. (3/24/14) – Daviess County is home to two of the 104 certified farm markets across the Commonwealth recently accepted into the 2014 Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program.

The Daviess County members are Reid’s Orchard and Trunnell’s Farm Market.

In joining the Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program, these markets have committed to offering quality products and service to their customers.

Their acceptance by Farm Bureau tells customers that they meet the highest standards of quality, freshness, and marketing appeal. Farm

Reid’s Orchard is open year round at 4818 KY Hwy. 144 in Owensboro. This family farm kicks off spring with Katie’s greenhouse, along with greenhouse tomatoes and strawberries. Summer at the orchard brings fresh peaches, apples, and a wide array of vegetables along with the opening of the play area and petting zoo. Come out during fall at the orchard for mums, pumpkins, and much more. The third weekend in October is Reid’s Apple Festival with carnival rides, handcrafted items, large selection of food booths, and all types of family activities.

Trunnell’s Family Fun Acre and Farm Market is open year round on Hwy. 431 in Utica. They are dedicated to providing your family with the absolute freshest grown Kentucky products and the best farm family fun. The market kicks off in the spring with a beautiful selection of unique flowers and hanging baskets. During the summer, you will find fresh Kentucky grown fruits and vegetables to delight your taste buds. Summer Fun kicks off with Festival of Flowers on May 3 followed by the Peach Jam Fest & Pageant on July 12 and the 5K Sweet Corn Extreme Run on July 26. Family Fun-Acre which includes an interactive corn maze, giant slide, and much more opens Sept. 13 with Hometown Hero Days and is followed by seven consecutive weekends of festivals: Grandparents Days; Ole' Cider Days; Great Pumpkin Fest; Octoberfest; A-Maize-ing Maze Fest & Flashlight night; Fall Squash & Pumpkin Gobble Fest; and the Grand Pumpkin Smash Fest on November 1 concludes the Fall Season.
