OWENSBORO, Ky. (3/31/14) – The opening of a second DaVita Home Dialysis location designed to focus on a specific area kidney dialysis – namely, training assistance to help people manage their dialysis needs at home – became official last month.

The event occurred with the Medicare certification granted following a three-month process.

DaVita Home Dialysis opened quietly on Dec. 2 as staff members worked through the required process, said facility administrator Stacy Blackburn. After the certification was received, the business was able to expand its services and accept more patients.

DaVita Home Dialysis works in conjunction with Ohio Valley Nephrology Group’s doctors Maru Mihindra, Mourad Bashar, and Hana Dhirn, who share in ownership of the dialysis service.

Home care training for patients takes about two weeks, Blackburn said.

The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce welcomed the business to the community with a ribbon cutting late Thursday afternoon.

Blackburn said joining the Chamber was the right move for the new medically-minded facility, and was something the physicians involved with the office wanted to do.

DaVita Home Dialysis is located at 3250 Kidron Valley Way, off Ky. Hwy. 54.
