OWENSBORO, Ky. (6/6/14) — A locally owned business that first opened its doors to the public in the 1960’s celebrated the expansion of its business at a second, much larger locale on J.R. Miller Blvd.
Green River Appliance co-owner Ray Chambers welcomed Chamber of Commerce members, representatives, and other guests at a ribbon cutting on Thursday.
Chambers said the original storefront on 14th St. will remain open as a “warehouse and service department” with “a reduced showroom for close-outs.”
The appliance center – which also houses the first and only Home and Garden TV showroom in Kentucky, according to an HGTV representative who was on hand for the ceremony – offers a variety of washers, dryers, stoves, televisions and furniture items to customers.
About 20 people are employed at Green River Appliance, Chambers said.
