OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/7/14) — An Owensboro man is accused of attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend.
Owensboro Police said officers responded to a report of a possible break-in at the woman’s residence in the 2200 block of Hutch Lane early Sunday morning, where they allegedly discovered a bullet that had struck the woman’s bedroom window.
Authorities said the path of the bullet indicated it was aimed at her bed.
Christian Young, 21, was arrested and charged with the shooting. Police said the woman told them Young had threatened to kill her prior to the incident.
He was charged with attempted murder and third-degree terroristic threatening.
Earlier in the evening, around 12:30 a.m., Young had also been charged with third-degree assault of a police officer for allegedly throwing mortar fireworks at an officer, who was patrolling Kendall Perkins Park. Witnesses at the scene told police Young was the one who threw the fireworks, one of which allegedly caused burns to the officer’s clothes and legs.The victim in the alleged shooting was also at the park at the time, authorities said.
