GREENVILLE, Ky. (7/15/14) — A Rockport, Ky. man was charged for multiple offenses after allegedly fleeing from a Kentucky State Police traffic stop Monday, July 14 in Greenville.
According to a KSP report, Trooper Jon McGehee stopped a vehicle being driven by Jacob R. Asberry, 22, Rockport, on Highland Drive, Greenville at approximately 10:49 p.m.
As McGehee was attempting to arrest Asberry for driving under the influence, Asberry fled on foot to a nearby wooded area but was apprehended after a brief pursuit, the report said.
A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Asberry was charged with speeding in a restricted zone; reckless driving; obstructed vision/windshield, resisting arrest; second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot; possession of a controlled substance/meth, first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; and third-degree criminal mischief.
McGehee also served Asberry with several outstanding bench warrants. Asberry was lodged in the Muhlenberg Detention Center.Trooper Jeff McWhorter, Sgt. Nick Rice, Greenville Police Department and the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
