baseballLEITCHFIELD, Ky. (7/22/14) — In an all-Owensboro matchup, Owensboro Eastern defeated Owensboro-Daviess County 8-2 in the championship game of the Cal Ripken Baseball 12U West State Tournament in Leitchfield Sunday.

Despite suffering the loss, Owensboro-Daviess County isn't done playing. A pair of experienced teams, Owensboro Eastern and Owensboro-Daviess County each advance to the Ohio Valley Regional in Crown Point, Ind.

In a stellar collective performance on the mound, Owensboro Eastern pitchers Nolan Boswell and Michael Haynes combined to hurl a one-hitter versus Owensboro-Daviess County.

At the plate for Owensboro Eastern, Chandler Froehlich went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Also providing a punch at the plate, Boswell finished 3-for-4 with a home run for the Owensboro Eastern baseball team.

The Owensboro-Daviess County 11U squad fell to Henderson County in its state tournament in Clarkson on Sunday. Henderson County edged Owensboro-Daviess County 10-8 in the Cal Ripken 11U West State Tournament.

Both the Henderson County and Owensboro-Daviess County 11U units advance to the Ohio Valley Regional, which will begin in Lexington July 31.
