BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (7/24/14) — The Owensboro 11-year-olds finished runner-up in the Little League State Baseball Tournament at Ephram White Park in Bowling Green Wednesday.
After battling back to beat Nelson County in the semifinals, Owensboro Southern fell to Lexington Eastern in the championship game.
Manager B.J. Brown and coaches Jerry Gibson and Mike Knight guided the Owensboro Southern 11-year-old team throughout the All-Star season.

Owensboro Southern 14, Nelson County 12: With his team facing a 12-5 deficit in the final inning, Austin Gough belted a two-out three-run home run to lift Owensboro Southern to a hard-fought 14-12 victory over Nelson County Tuesday.
Gough paced a balanced Owensboro Southern offensive effort. Two of his teammates, Ethan Gibson smacked two doubles and Tanner Klee, contributed a pair of hits for the Owensboro Southern baseball team.
On the mound for the Owensboro Southern club, Jamen Kinison pitched the final 2 1/3 innings.
Lexington Eastern 3, Owensboro Southern 0: Owensboro Southern was limited to four hits in the championship game as Lexington Eastern pulled away to win 3-0.
Ethan Gibson, who delivered two doubles in Owensboro Southern's hard-fought victory over Nelson County in the semifinals, added a pair of hits.
Two other Owensboro Southern batters, Tanner Klee and James Rhineburger, added one hit apiece.The Owensboro Southern 11-year-old All-Stars represented the area well throughout the tournament.
