golf1 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/28/14) — The Owensboro Catholic girls' and Hancock County boys' golf teams captured Third Region All "A" Classic team titles at Ben Hawes Golf Course Thursday.

Owensboro Catholic shot a 165 and cruised to the girls' title. Olivia Cason led Owensboro Catholic, firing a 36 for the Lady Aces. Other contributors for the Owensboro Catholic girls' team in the championship-clinching victory were Emily Lyons (42), Rachel Bahnick (42) and Payton Hite (45).

Hancock County finished runner-up with Lindsey Hagman (43), Lexie Lamar (50), Peyton Bozarth (63) and Sydney Schneider (70) competing in the small-school regional golf tournament.

Bozarth and Edmonson County's Kayla Meredith (46) also qualified as individuals for the for the All "A" Classic State Tournament to be held at Woodson Bend Golf Club in Somerset Sept. 6.

Hancock County handled Owensboro Catholic 166-182 in the boys' tournament.

Garrett Crabtree turned in a 38 to lead Hancock County to the boys' title.

Tanner Staples (40), Justin Kurz (44) and Matt Allard (44) aided the Hancock County boys' team in the title victory.

Hayden Riney (43), Billy Cason (44), Stephen Warren (47) and J.T. Hayden (48) made up Owensboro Catholic's foursome in the regional event.

Standout John Augenstein, a junior, didn't play for Owensboro Catholic in the small-school regional tournament.

The Hancock County boys' team, Riney and Cason all qualify for the All "A" Classic State Tournament at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Somerset Sept. 6.
