USPCA logoOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/28/14) — The Owensboro Police Department has announced that they are hosting the United States Police Canine Association Region 5 certification trials.

Between Monday, August 4 and Friday, August 8, more than 40 K-9 handlers and their K-9 partners from Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, will descend on Owensboro to fulfill their required annual certifications.

On Tuesday, August 5, the K-9 teams will complete their day with a public demonstration. The demonstration is free to the public and will start with a vehicle parade which will bring all units together at the Daviess County High School football stadium.

Once gathered inside the stadium, the public will be able to watch as the K-9 teams show off their skills in the areas of suspect apprehension and agility. The demonstration is scheduled to last approximately 90 minutes.
