OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/30/14) — A 'suspicious package' delivered via UPS to Fifth Third Bank at the corner of Frederica and Fifth Street was 'rendered safe' after Owensboro Police Department’s Hazardous Device Unit responded to a report of the package being delivered this morning.
An OPD spokesperson said it’s impossible to know for sure what the package’s contents were.
“It would be speculation,” said OPD Sgt. J.D. Winkler.
The Hazardous Device Unit first conducted an x-ray of the package but were unable to determine whether it was dangerous.
They next opted to use a disruptor on the package to eliminate any potential hazards, Winkler said.
