vehicle accident 01 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/25/14) — A vehicle was completely submerged in a water basin in the 3600 block of Calumet Trace Saturday night after its driver apparently hydroplaned and ran off the road.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Riley, 28, Owensboro, was driving east on Calumet Trace through heavy rainfall when his vehicle hydroplaned and began to skid. It then struck a fence and continued down an embankment into the water basin.

Authorities said Riley was able to escape the vehicle before it became submerged.

No injuries were reported.
