fire flames badge 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/26/13) – At approximately 1:10 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Monday, March 26, Madisonville Fire Department (MFD) responded to an alarm call at GE Aircraft Engines plant on Nebo Rd.

GE Human Resource Leader Becky Lingo gave available details on the incident and explained that an employee pulled an alarm in the plant after detecting smoke in the Northwest corner of the facility. GE Madisonville's Incipient Fire Brigade immediately responded and extinguished a small equipment fire just as MFD arrived.

All of the employees safely evacuated the building in orderly time during the incident. There were no injuries reported, however, there was some minor equipment damage to a laser machine.

MFD gave the "All clear" signal at 2:00 p.m. allowing all of the employees to return to the inside facility.

Lingo stated that the cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated.
