Vehicle Fire at Intersection of Grapevine Road and Spicer Avenue

madisonvillefire2 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/7/13) – On Tuesday, May 7, at approximately 1:11 AM, the Madisonville Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a reported vehicle fire at the intersection of Grapevine Road and Spicer Avenue.

Once on the scene, firefighters found a white 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora with smoke and fire showing from the engine. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Further investigation showed a sizeable amount of smoke in the passenger compartment, but no fire.

The driver, Scott Jimenez, told firefighters that the vehicle had started backfiring on Dulin Street and, when he pulled up to the stop sign at Grapevine Road, there was smoke and fire visible around the intake manifold.

The vehicle was removed from the scene via wrecker. No further action was required and firefighters returned to station.
