accident two car 300MCLEAN COUNTY, Ky. (4/22/13) – On Friday, April 19, at approximately 8:23 p.m., Kentucky State Police officials responded to a report of an accident with possible injuries in McLean County.
 
Once on the scene, the investigation revealed that Justin L. Kinison, 21, of Owensboro, was operating a White 1995 Chevy Camaro while traveling Southbound on KY81. Deputy Timothy W. McCoy, 45, a resident of Central City and Deputy for the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, was operating his 2009 Dodge Charger marked police cruiser. He was responding to an emergency complaint.
 
Deputy McCoy had his lights and siren operating. Mr. Kinison saw the Deputy’s emergency lights behind him and attempted to pull off the roadway by making a left turn into a driveway. Deputy McCoy failed to realize Mr. Kinison was making a left turn. Deputy McCoy pulled out to pass. Mr. Kinison pulled into the deputy’s path. Deputy McCoy struck Mr. Kinison vehicle on the driver’s side door. Deputy McCoy’s cruiser left the roadway and traveled down an earth embankment, and struck a tree coming to a final rest. Mr. Kinison’s vehicle came to a final rest on KY81.
 
Deputy McCoy was lifeflighted to Deaconness in Evansville with non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Kinison was taken by ambulance to Owensboro Medical Health System where he was treated and released.
 
The investigation is still ongoing.
