Owensboro Police Investigating Firearm Discharge at Brescia University

shooting incident 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (3/19/13) – No one was injured and no threats were made against staff members or students during an incident at Brescia University Monday night at 8:45 p.m. in which a Brescia University staff member allegedly struggled with a family member in a basement office for control of a handgun, causing the weapon to discharge.

According to Owensboro Police, the unnamed staff member was allegedly considering suicide, which led to the struggle for the handgun. Authorities said they have referred the case to the Commonwealth Attorney’s office for further review. The investigation is continuing.
