On Wednesday, March 13, a deputy with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department allegedly observed Jason Hays of Owensboro, traveling eastbound on the Audubon Parkway in an erratic manner. The drug’s street value was estimated at approximately $3,800. Hays was charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance.

On Thursday, March 14, authorities were dispatched to 7770 Boteler Road in reference to a drug complaint. Deputies obtained permission to search the premises, and allegedly located various areas within the residence were items that indicated methamphetamine was being manufactured and sold. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene to assist in the cleanup and disposal of some dangerous chemicals located inside. Brice D. Wilkerson was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Methamphetamine Precursor, Drug Paraphernalia, Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana.

On Monday, March 18, Inmate Michael Padgett was being transported by Daviess County Sherriff’s Deputies to the Judicial Center in downtown Owensboro, when officers received information that Padgett had allegedly manufactured a potential weapon from a piece of metal, and intended to attack a bailiff and escape. Deputies assigned to the Judicial Center searched the subject in his holding cell, and did not find any weapons. After a search of the transport vehicle, a 4x6 piece of steel was found wrapped in a sock. Authorities said Padgett confessed to planning an attack on a bailiff in an attempt to escape custody. Along with previous charges, Padgett is now facing charges of Promoting Contraband.

On Thursday, March 21, at approximately 12:08 a.m., Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Daviess County Fire Department, Thruston Fire Department, and Yelvington Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 324 Cinderella Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, the residence was enveloped in flames, but all occupants were safely out of the home. The home next door had to be evacuated as well, because there was a potential of flames spreading. Authorities said that while on the scene, a subject approached deputies and stated that he had intentionally set the fire. There were also two other people in the home when the fire occurred. Crews were on scene for approximately two hours. Joseph Paul Stamper, of 324 Cinderella Drive, is charged with Arson and two counts of Wanton Endangerment.
