ops2 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (5/16/13) - The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors approved a formal process to begin the search for a new President/CEO to replace Nick Brake, who will become the Superintendent of the Owensboro Public Schools on July 1.
 
In the interim period Madison Silvert, the current Executive Vice President of the EDC, will step in as acting CEO upon Brake’s departure July 1 until a new President is named. Silvert is eligible to apply for the permanent CEO position.
 
The board created a five‐member Search Committee. EDC Board Chair Fred May named EDC Chair‐Elect Scott McCain as the chair of the Search Committee. In addition to McCain and May the Search Committee will also include EDC Board members Hugh Haydon, Chair of Kentucky BioProcessing and a former economic development professional; Dean Stanley, the Chair of the Owensboro‐Daviess County Industrial Foundation; and Steve Loyal from Atmos Energy.
 
The position will be advertised locally, statewide through the Kentucky Association of Economic Development, and nationally through the International Economic Development Council. Criteria for the position include a Bachelor's Degree; with an advanced degree preferred. Two years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, or related field with demonstrated management experience is a minimum requirement. The board is looking for an individual with experience implementing a comprehensive economic development strategy involving new business attraction, existing business retention, high tech and startup incubation, quality of place, and workforce development.
 
The closing date for the position is June 28. The Search Committee will screen applicants, conduct interviews, and make recommendations to the EDC Executive Board and full board for final approval.
