WKCTC Students Honor Gericke

gericke 300PADUCAH, Ky. (4/25/13) – For the second time West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) students have selected Dr. Kevin Gericke as Teacher the Year.
 
Dr. Gericke, a professor of economics and statistics, received the honor on Wednesday, April 24 from among 48 faculty members who were also nominated for the award. Each instructor nominated had to hold an assistant professor status or above and be a member of the WKCTC teaching faculty for the past three years.
 
Dr. Gericke, a McCracken County resident, said he was flattered that WKCTC students showed their support for him with in this way. “I am deeply humbled to be in the midst of all the faculty members who were nominated,” Dr. Gericke told the audience after accepting the award during a ceremony Wednesday. “I believe if you stop learning, you stop growing and stop moving forward. I learn from the faculty and the students every day. I love coming to work and being a part of this great institution.”
 
Dr. Gericke holds a master’s degree and doctorate in resource economics from Virginia Tech.
