HEND CO BANDHENDERSON, Ky. (4/10/13) – Two ensembles from the Henderson County High School Band program have just wrapped up successful seasons. The Henderson County High School Winter Guard, under the direction of Elizabeth Gogel, gave its final performance of the season on March 30 in Corydon, Indiana. The group came in ninth out of 17, with a final score of 70.93.
 
“This group of girls achieved every goal that was set for them this season, and I am extremely proud of everything they have accomplished in the short time we have been working together,” said Gogel. “This season would not have been possible without the help of all the parents, grandparents, and friends of all the students, and we are very grateful for each and every one of them.”
 
The 2013 Winter Guard included Britney Anderson, Anna Burroughs, Kat Ewing, Mariah Lane, Mallory Rice, Megan Rice, Katelyn Savedge, Ashley Skaggs, Kendra Sortaro, and Savanna Turner.
 
The Henderson Indoor Percussion also finished up its 2013 season recently with great success. Under the direction of Alex Grimm and Zack Stewart, the group competed at the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit (SCGC) Championships on April 6 in Nashville, Tennessee and received 7th place out of 14 groups. The group was also named Kentucky Scholastic Marching A Champion, receiving the highest score in the class for a Kentucky ensemble.
 
“This is only the second year of existence for this group, and they made a six-placement jump from last season,” said Grimm. “We are very proud of all their achievements this year.”
 
“It was a good season,” said sophomore Nate Phelps. “I really think that all of our hard work paid off.”
 
“It’s a great feeling to have accomplished so much in our second year,” added sophomore Brandon Woodard. “We’re already looking forward to next season!”
 
The 2013 Henderson Indoor Percussion included Matthew Brooks, Kaitlyn Clary, Avery Hartley, Nathaniel Hobbs, Cameron Ivie, Tanner Jones, Ethan Lee, Emily Lewis, Chelsea Overfield, Quentin Peters, Nate Phelps, Kasey Pirtle, Seth Pritchett, Laine Skaggs, Mason Taylor, Blake Turner, Travis Walker, and Brandon Woodard.
