OPD Implements Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign

driver sober1 300OWENSBORO, KY (12/12/11) – As part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2011 campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, the Owensboro Police Department will be out in force between December 16, 2011 and January 2, 2012 to crack down on Impaired Driving.

The holiday season is filled with family gatherings, company parties, and other social events that may include alcohol. We want to remind all drivers to be safe this year. Here are some tips to accomplish just that:

Designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home.

Use a taxi, call a sober driver, or use public transportation.

If you’re the host of the party and observe an impaired person who is about to drive, help them make other arrangements so they arrive at their destination safely.

If you observe a drunk driver on the road, call law enforcement immediately.

Remember this simple message – Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!
