HENDERSON, KY (4/30/12) – On Saturday April 28th the Kentucky State Police Post 16 partnered with the US DEA and the Union County, Ky. Sheriff’s office in the national ‘Take Back’ initiative. The ‘Take Back’ program is designed to assist in removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from home medicine cabinets which are expired or unused. The program encourages citizens to turn in the medications to official collection sites to ensure they are disposed of properly.
The ‘Take Back’ initiative in Henderson and Union County was very successful with the two agencies collecting a total of 122 pounds of unwanted medications.
This effort symbolizes KSP’s commitment to work in conjunction with other agencies and the citizens of the Commonwealth to stop the rise in addiction caused by the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs.
The Kentucky State Police wishes to express a sincere thank you to everyone that has helped make the program a success by turning in their medications for proper disposal.
