NIAGRA, KY (5/7/12) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury collision that occurred on KY 416; one-mile west of Niagra on Monday, May 7, 2012 at approximately 8:41 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Zachary Bartley (22) of Robards, KY, was operating a 1997 Chevrolet Metro two-door car eastbound on KY 416. Melissa Greenwell (32) of Henderson, KY was also on KY 416 traveling westbound in her 2004 Ford four-door passenger car. Bartley fell asleep and crossed into the opposing lane striking Greenwell in a head-on fashion.
Greenwell, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. Bartley, who was not wearing his seatbelt, had to be freed by mechanical means prior to being transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. Both sustained non-life threatening injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Trooper First Class Chris Armburst investigated the collision. The Robards Volunteer Fire Department and Henderson County Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
