HENDERSON, KY (7/7/12) - The Henderson County Schools Back to School Readifest is scheduled for July 24, 2012 at South Middle School from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The annual event is hosted by the Henderson County Schools Family Resource Youth Service Centers. The purpose of the event is to make sure all students who attend Henderson County Schools have access to proper medical care and school resources needed to start a new school year.
The following screenings will be available, free of charge, to students (parents/guardians must be present at all screenings):
1. School physicals required for preschool, kindergarten, 1st and 6th grades conducted by Dr. John Jenkins, CATCH - Methodist Hospital Primary Care and Nurse Practitioner Sharon Shields from Dr. Crick, Fife, and Ervin’s office;
2. Dental screenings and dental education by Dr. Laura Hancock - UK Dental Outreach Director and West Kentucky Area Health Education;
3. Hearing screenings;
Other booths will include: Henderson County Schools, Family Resource Youth Services Center, UK Extension Services, Mental Health, Migrant Program, Child Find, 21st Century, K-Chip, KHEAA – Casi Clark, Matthew 25, Lighthouse Counseling, Foster Care Adoption, HANDS/ Prenatal Program, River Valley Impact Program, Lindsey Wilson College, Tri County Recycling, Housing Authority, Deaconess Cross Pointe, Jennifer Thomas, LMT, PACS Now, Family Options, Girl Scouts of America, Dr. Cottingham, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and many more!
A Family Resource Youth Service Center representative from each school will be present to provide parents and students information needed to help students start a successful school year.
