Henderson Police Officer and K9 Win Multiple Awards

hargitt santo2HENDERSON, KY (7/12/12) – During the week of June 11 - 14, 2012, Officer Jason Hargitt and K9 Santo participated in the United Stated Police Canine Association Region 5 Field Trials in Kettering, Ohio.

Region 5 is comprised of the states of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. Officer Hargitt and Santo placed Third Place in Article Searches, Fourth Place in Outdoor Narcotics Detection and Eighth Place in the Overall Individual Narcotics.
 
Additionally, Officer Hargitt won the Ron Schmutz Award. The Ron Schmutz Award is given to the officer who exhibits the highest level of sportsmanship and effort during field trials. The award winner is selected by the Judges on the final day of field trials. It is based solely on the officer.
 
Officer Hargitt has been with the Henderson Police Department for twelve years and has served with his ten year old partner, Santo, for eight years.
