Spike Strips End Multi-County Pursuit: Multiple Arrests

Vehicle Pursuit_01_300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (1/10/2013) – Last night, Ky. State Police pursued a vehicle on I-69 (Pennyrile Parkway), and the chase ended in Hanson, Ky. with a vehicle crashing into a ditch adjacent to the southbound lane.

Stu Recke, KSP Post 2 Public Affairs Officer, told SurfKY News this morning that the pursuit originated in the jurisdiction of Post 16, which includes Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, and Union counties.

Post 2 units were contacted to assist in the pursuit, as it entered into Webster and eventually Hopkins County. Recke indicated that a Post 2 KSP unit deployed spike strips to disable the vehicle, which then exited the roadway and came to rest in a ditch just north of exit 49 in Hanson.

Recke said that three individuals were apprehended following the incident.

As the arresting agency, Post 16 is expected to provide more details surrounding the pursuit, and SurfKY News will provide updates as soon as they are received.
