hend police academy 300HENDERSON, Ky. (2/13/13) – The Henderson Police Department will be holding another “Citizen’s Academy” beginning on Tuesday, March 5th, 2013, at 6 PM.
 
This Academy will run every Tuesday from March 5th until April 30th. The times are from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The courses are held at the Henderson Police Department training room unless otherwise listed at the start of the course.
 
The Academy is part of an ongoing series of Academies that are held several times each year. This is a great opportunity for participants to become familiar with the Police Department, its various units and their functions. Over 300 people have graduated from the Citizen's Academy. Topics of instruction will include Patrol Operations, Traffic Stops, Specialized Units and Firearms, Training, Crime Scene Processing, and K-9. Participants will also be allowed to go to the Firing Range if they desire to.
 
In order to attend the Academy, participants must be over 18 years of age and must not have been convicted of a Felony or a Domestic Violence related offense of any sort.
 
Applicants who wish to attend this session of the Citizen’s Academy should submit an application on-line at www.hendersonkypolice.com or an application can be picked up at the Henderson Police Department. For more information, contact Officer Richmond at 831-1295.
