Fatal Accident on I-69

fatal accidentHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/10/13) – On Friday evening, March 8, 2013, at approximately 6:57 PM, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Troopers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on I-69.

Once on the scene, Troopers found that a Chevrolet Trail Blazer, driven by 29-year-old Paul Dearien of Dawson Springs, was traveling southbound on I-69 when the vehicle exited the roadway into the median.  Dearien maneuvered the vehicle back onto the roadway, but couldn’t regain control of the vehicle.  Dearien re-entered the median and the vehicle began to roll.  The vehicle rolled across the northbound lanes and exited the roadway on the south side of the road.  Dearien was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency personnel provided emergency care on scene. Dearien was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Coroner, Dennis Mayfield.

Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor to the collision.
