theater work oboroOwensboro, KY (03/29/2013) – For Todd Reynolds, working in theatre has been something of a life’s work. Reynolds has been working with Theatre Workshop of Owensboro since the mid-1970s, both as an actor and a director. In February, Reynolds was approached by TWO to direct this season’s rendition of the classic play, “Dearly Departed.”

When the family patriarch falls over dead in the first scene, the whole family gets involved in the burial process, including a not-so-grieving widow who wants the tombstone to read “mean and surly.”

“This is kind of a dysfunctional bunch, and it just kind of shows how they deal with it,” Reynolds said.

“Dearly Departed” is a story Reynolds said he is familiar with.

“This is a show that I first saw done years ago back ’97. My wife directed that version of it, and I saw it and really enjoyed it. When they put it in this season, they asked if I would co-direct it, along with Lisa Tullis and I said sure,” he said.

As for the cast, Reynolds said that this particular cast is fabulous.

“We have kind of a nice mix of TWO veterans and brand new people who are just starting out not only at Theatre workshop, but in theatre, period,” he said.

Dearly Departed opens on April 26, and will run through May 12 at the Trinity Church. Anyone wanting tickets should contact Theatre Workshop at 270- 683-5333.
