Owensboro Police Department Continues DUI Campaign

driver sober1 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/27/13) – The Owensboro Police Department has already conducted two DUI checkpoints in its 2013 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, authorities said today. Those checkpoints culminated in a total of nine arrests for impaired driving over the combined period of six hours.
 
"Although this shows an increase from previous years, it also shows that more of these drivers are being located and removed from our roads," authorities said in a news release. Officers have also encountered the use of designated drivers during these checkpoints, which authorities described as "a welcome sight, and something we hope to see more of."  
 
The Owensboro Police Department will continue to look for impaired driving on our roadways so that everyone can enjoy a safe holiday season. The campaign continues through Sept. 3.
