Central City Everly Brothers Rock-N-Roll Cruise-in Huge Success

CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (9/3/13) – It may have been a hot week in Central City, but 100 plus degree temperatures didn't deter the thousands on hand for the 12th Annual Everly Brothers Rock-N-Roll Cruise-In and Car Show in downtown Central City.

Owners of hot rods and classic cars, ranging over the past century, turned out in what have been record numbers, and spectators didn't let triple digit temperatures slow down their fun either.

Central City Mayor Barry Shaver told reporters, "I have been very pleased with the turn out. Especially the fact that folks have come from all over the county, and all over the country to enjoy some Central City and Muhlenberg County hospitality."

Highlights of the week-long celebration included free Gospel music courtesy of Jason and Adam Crabb, The Bowlings, The Martins and The Dixie Melody Boys. Larry Manglingers presented a free Rod Stewart Tribute Concert, and The Endless Summer Band.

Of course, as always, the stars were the cars. From the 1930s to brand new Corvettes, the streets were lined with custom designed cars, trucks and motorcycles as far as the eye could see.

In a show of county wide cooperation, Greenville Mayor Ed DeArmond took to the stage Saturday night to thank Central City residents for helping to make Greenville's "Saturday on the Square" one of the city's most successful ever this summer, and encouraging residents of Greenville and surrounding communities in Muhlenberg County to come back next year to the Everly Brother's Cruise in Central City.

The city's "Hometown Harvest" celebration will fill the streets of Central City in Octobers.
