Harlem Globetrotter to Visit East Heights Elementary Students

harlem ambHENDERSON, Ky. (1/6/14) - A Harlem Globetrotter, Dizzy Grant, will visit East Heights Elementary from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 to deliver an anti-bullying message to the students.

His presentation is labeled the “ABCs (Action, Bravery, and Compassion) of Anti-Bullying” with interactive games and basketball skill/ drills to capture the students’ attention with his message.

The Globetrotters, known as “Ambassadors of Goodwill,” worked with the National Campaign to Stop Violence to design this program focusing on Action, Bravery, and Compassion. Their message, targeting six to 12 year old students, includes discussing these three key words in the ABCs, how kids can offer support to help one another and tools they can use on a daily basis to help reduce bullying.

“Kids look up to star athletes like Dizzy Grant, and we are thrilled for him to come and share his anti-bullying message with our students,” said Melissa Walker, East Heights Elementary Family Resource Center Coordinator.

She adds, “This is an exciting opportunity that will reinforce the positive behaviors that our teachers teach our East Heights students every day.”

The program is sponsored by the East Heights Family Resource Center. For more information contact Melissa Walker at: (270) 831-5057.
