FEMA 'Hasn't Shown Us Anything', Dixon Residents Tell Whitfield

webster 1U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield explains FEMA flood map issues to Dixon residents Feb. 19. DIXON, Ky. (2/19/14) - Many Dixon residents were up in arms Wednesday, when U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield visited the Webster County Courthouse to hear residents' comments about FEMA flood map problems.

Some residents voiced their opinions on the controversial topic saying that FEMA "hasn't shown us anything".

According to many, banks are requiring citizens to get flood insurance even when they are not inhabiting a flood zone, wasting thousands of out-of-pocket dollars.

"There is an effort in Washington to pass something to alleviate the problem," said Whitfield. "It is not our intent to make it worse."

Whitfield said the House of Representatives will be addressing the issues in session next week.
