'Six Painted Ladies' Unveil 'Inspiring Visions of Spring' at Audubon Museum

(3/13/14) – The newest collection of works assembled by an award-winning group of artists, titled “Inspiring Visions of Spring,” will open April 3 at the John James Audubon State Park Museum in Henderson.

The works, by “Six Painted Ladies,” showcase paintings executed in oil, acrylic, pastels and watercolors.

Gathering at each others’ studios, Henderson artists Susie Rideout, Marka Kroeger, Cathe Hedgespeth and Iris Gentry meet with Jan Frazier of Owensboro and Sandy Barry of Clay to go through an activity that has become an important part of their creative process.

The “Six Painted Ladies” first exhibit was in the fall of 2009 as an extension of regular critique sessions.

Join the John James Audubon Museum for the opening reception, Thursday, April 3, 5:30-6:45 p.m.

The event is free to the public.

Exhibit dates are April 3-June 30.

John James Audubon State Park is the site where Audubon studied and painted birds from 1810-1819. The park is equipped with cottages and a campground, and offers many recreational opportunities, including a nine-hole golf course, 6 miles of hiking trails, fishing and more. It also has a museum and nature center that interprets Audubon’s life through a collection of his paintings and memorabilia.The park is located on U.S. 41 in the northern outskirts of Henderson, ½ mile south of the U.S. 41 bridge over the Ohio River.
