Central City Plans Fundraiser For One of Its Own

helphandsCENTRAL CITY, Ky. (3/18/14) — The city employees of Central City joined together to help one of their own.

Jeff Geary, an employee of the Central City Maintenance and Street Department is dealing with a serious illness, and city employees planned several benefits to help with medical and other expenses, according to Central City Fire Chief, Rick King.

"We'll be having a benefit cookout at the Central City Fire Department this Friday, March 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.," King told SurfKY News. "All meals will be carry out, and will include a pork loin sandwich, chips and a dessert. All proceeds will go to assist Mr. Geary with medical expenses."

The CCFD is located at 207 North Second Street. To find out more details, call (270) 754-2345.

Tammy Piper, the director of the Central City Convention Center, told SurfKY News that there is also a 5K Run/Walk planned to assist Geary with medical expenses. The event is scheduled for the last Saturday in March.

"We'll be having the event on March 29 at 9 a.m. starting at the Central City Convention Center," Piper said. "The cost is $30 per person, and registration is going on now at the convention center, located at 320 Golden Tide Avenue. Those interested can also register at the Central City City Building at 214 North First Street."
