North Middle School Band Receives Highest Ratings at Concert Festival

Henderson North Middle School 300HENDERSON, Ky. (3/21/14) – A big congratulations goes to the members of the North Middle School Concert Band (seventh and eighth grade members) for receiving a distinguished rating from every judge at concert festival Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Madisonville, Kentucky.

The students performed “Academic Festival Overture, Opus 80” by Johannes Brahms, “Psalm 42” arranged by Samuel R. Hazo, and “March on a Welsh Air” by John Edmondson.

In addition to receiving a distinguished rating on their performance music, they also received the highest rating in their sight-reading performance during which the students have five minutes to learn the piece of music then perform in front of a judge.

There are a few more opportunities to see the North Middle School Bands in action (including the sixth, seventh, and eight grade bands, as well as the jazz band).

NMS Spring Concert will be held Thursday, May 1 at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

Later in the month, Tuesday, May 27, the bands will host a “Movies & Pops” concert in the North Middle School gym.

The North Middle School Bands are under the direction of Mr. Alex Grimm.
