Henderson County High School 300HENDERSON, Ky. (3/22/14) – Congratulations to the Henderson County High School Academic Team for their great finish at the State Governor’s Cup meet last weekend.

The competition took place at the Galt House in Louisville.

The quick recall team made the Elite 8 for the second year in a row defeating West Jessamine High School twice and Campbell High School before being defeated by Johnson Central in a very close match.

The Henderson County Academic Team finished 13th overall out of 149 schools represented at the meet.

The following students placed in the top 20 in individual written assessments:

  • Hencye Sights (junior) – Ninth in Language Arts
  • Jack Hardy (junior) – Ninth in Arts and Humanities
  • Lance Gibson (junior) – 19th in Language Arts
  • Isaac Oettle (freshman) – 19th in Social Studies
  • Joseph Crafton (senior) – 20th in Math

Other students who competed in the state meet include Jesse Tapp (senior) in Science Written Assessment; Erik Davis (junior) and Will Hardy (freshman) in Math Written Assessment.

Henderson County High School Academic Team coaches are head coach Brian Sullivan and assistant coaches Matt Richeson, Gene Peck, and Ed Clouse.
